November 24…I am grateful for sisterhood and celebration.
Currently, I am cozily wrapped in a fleece throw nestled in the corner of my sofa. What is the occasion? Well, my line sisters and I celebrated 10 years of sisterhood in Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated in New Orleans, LA. Today is a well deserved rest day!
To kick off our reunion weekend, we visited Sip and Paint in Metairie, Louisiana. If you are interested in creative expression while in a relaxed environment, this is the place for you! The creativity of this place is through the roof! Check out the awesome canvases on the wall behind us. Starting our weekend at this location worked perfectly for us. With each of us traveling to the city, it was a nice space to meet and greet while unwinding and socializing. The timing of the event also worked really well with our travel schedules.
Now to speak of the food…
The evening’s meal was catered with Martin Wine Cellar, also in Metairie, LA. The food was delicious. Since I was (for once) the closest in distance to the event, I wanted to sponsor the evening’s meal while showcasing foods of the bayou. I didn’t go crazy with seafood orders, but small tokens of bayou cuisine were present.
If you ever cater with Martin Wine Cellar, you have to order the Boudin Balls. They are crispy fried and served with Creole mustard. Delicious! In addition to those, I ordered Red Beans and Rice, and the Martin’s Combo sandwich platter, which consisted of chicken salad, turkey, and ham sandwiches. For dessert, I went with the chocolate dipped strawberries. I will be ordering those again! They went really well with our wine.
We were stuffed before completing our works of art! (Check out the paintings above!) I highly encourage you to visit these places if you’re in the Matairie area. They are terrific!
Looking back on the past couple of days, we had plenty of food and fun! We are truly blessed! Although all 35 were not able to attend, we can celebrate that all 35 are alive and well. For that, I am so grateful!
