No Internet and Something Like a Vacation

I’ve been away on vacation, so it’s been a while since my last post.

It is so refreshing to post an honest out of office message that says “I will not have access to email.”

You see, my vacations consist of spending quality time with my family. It’s not all hugs and kisses throughout the whole weekend, but it’s real quality time with ones I love. The best thing is that my mom does not have internet at her home. No need to read that last sentence again. My mother does not have the internet in her home. Her reasoning? Internet is a luxury, not a necessity. So, my away messages are always truthful, and I love that!

I am blessed to be a millennial who grew up within an old school household. I have the best of both worlds. I see the tradition in things, like no cell phones at the dinner table, and I understand the modern spins on other topics. I come from parents who believed in education and hard work, not allowances and the latest technological gadgets. My mother is the prime example of leadership and determination in the household. She especially displayed this after my father passed away when I was three years old. That woman accomplishes anything that she sets out to do! I love her for that!

During this internet-free vacation, in the country of Mississippi, I was able to do several things that I loved: turn off my cell phone, cook, do yard work including watering the azaleas and burning clutter (it’s so peaceful, trust me), spend time with loved ones, hold a cute little baby, and check out an arts festival. On top of that, the weather was perfect! I also got to schedule three photo sessions for senior portraits. I’m putting this camera to good use. Overall, I seriously reminded myself that I am a country gal. I want to build a home in the country and enjoy the relaxed life, sprinkled with a few adventures and out-of-state vacations. That would be living the life of Riley (not sure who that is, but oh well).

I definitely have a vacation hangover. It is 2 a.m. and I am wide awake and bouncing around on blog content. I have to be up for work in 4.5 hours and I am considering pulling an all-nighter. Anyway, I hope that you are doing well. May there be a vacation in your future! God bless!
